Mas del Riu is a traditional farmhouse in the region Bajo Maestrazgo. It was built in 1768 and restored in 2005. The house was opened in 2011 for ecotourism. It is perfect for guests who are looking for a rural Mediterranean experience, it combines proximity to the sea and tranquility of a secluded farmhouse in the country.

The farm is situated on a large area filled with regional aromatic herbs. Enjoy lavender, rosemary, thyme, sage as well as pines, carob and ancient olive trees. Most of the times there is breeze of the sea which mixes with the aroma of the surrounding orange tree plantations.

In Mas del Riu we also run an ecological garden with vegetables and fruit. Meat and eggs are provided by a small flock of free-running chickens.

The original well provides via a small waterway - once used for irrigation of the land - an area with ponds, populated by several types of amphibians

A total of 20,000 square meters (215,000 square feet) of the parcels which belong to the Mas del Riu, are fenced in. The house of the caretaker is on the same site, about 100 meters away from the main house. He lives there with his family and takes care of your needs.

The house is powered by solar and wind energy. The water is supplied from a private well and is decalcified and made potable through a system of reverse osmosis.
To prepare your meals, you can use several methods:

Beside of the fully equipped kitchen Mas del Riu offers an original stone oven, a traditional barbecue and a comfortable "paellero". Wood is supplied by the caretaker. You may use fruit or vegetables from our organic garden, free of charge.
